Leopardo employs whole-building energy modeling to identify and evaluate energy conservation measures (ECMs). This holistic approach considers how proposed improvements—such as upgrades to lighting, mechanical systems, building envelope, and automation systems—interact across the entire building to maximize energy efficiency.

To support the modeling, data logging is used during the initial site audit to gather real-time operational data. Loggers are deployed throughout area facilities to monitor equipment run times and space conditions, enabling the development of accurate energy use baselines and increasing confidence in projected savings.

A detailed rate and tariff analysis is also conducted to convert energy savings into cost savings. Leopardo engineers review all affected utility accounts to ensure savings projections align with applicable utility rate structures, which is essential for meeting savings guarantees.

Beyond energy savings, Leopardo also quantifies potential operations and maintenance (O&M) savings. This involves establishing a cost baseline through an in-depth review of the city’s budget and close collaboration with city staff.
